I'm getting married this winter too in Quincy! Congrats on your engagement. It is hard to find good vendors, even if you've grown up in this area like I have. I recommend checking out www.youbetheweddingplanner.com They have lots of photog's, dj's, and videographers on there with short videos about themselves. I ended up hiring one of the dj's on there and I didn't have to waste a lot of time with people I wasn't interested in. You could also check out other local forums like boston.com's wedding board and yelp.com for Boston. There are rec's on those sites, too. Good luck! Hope this helps.

I hired my photographer after seeing him work at two of my friends' weddings and seeing the photos after. He's fantastic, and I don't say that lightly because I'm quite picky.
