Carlsbad, Calif. - The Four Seasons in Carlsbad, Calif., served as the venue for the wedding ceremony and reception of Brecken Applegate Schneider and Capt. Joshua Schneider on June 27, 2009.
Mike Mitschke officiated over the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Holly and Bill Applegate of Providence, and formerly of Cumberland. The bridegroom is the son of Bruce and Dorene Schneider of Northport, N.Y.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a Melissa Sweet gown from Priscilla of Boston, with a veil that was over 100 years old. Her mother wore it 35 years ago and the bride was the fifth generation on her mother's side to wear it on her wedding day.
A round rosegay of blue hydrangea and white roses with an accent of green coffee bean completed the ensemble.
Burgundy Applegate, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor.
The bridesmaids were Kimberly Haddad, Molly Freeman, and Christine Pantos, all friends from Bishop Feehan High School.
The flower girls were Ava, Morganna, and Lila Dutton, nieces of the groom.
Edward Schneider, brother of the groom, served as best man.
The ushers were George Mittnacht and Kevin Lehman, fellow Marines, and Evan Ackerfeld, a childhood friend of the groom.
Jacob Samick, nephew of the groom, was the ring bearer.
The bride graduated from Bishop Feehan High School in 2002. She earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Roger Williams University in 2006.
She has worked for Amica Insurance for over three years, first in New Jersey, then tranferring to Southern California. She is currently a claims supervisor.
The groom graduated from Northport High School, Northport, N.Y., in 1998. He earned a bachelor's degree in marketing from Hofstra University in 2005, and also became a commissioned officer in the U.S. Marine Corps the same year.
He is a captain in 1st Recon, U.S. Marine Corps stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif., and is preparing for his final deployment to Afghanistan in spring 2010. His wife, family and friends look forward to his safe return.
The couple took a wedding trip to Kauai, Hawaii, and recently purchased their first home in Orange County, Calif. They also added a new member to their family - a chocolate Labrador retriever puppy named Jax.
