ABOUT THE COUPLE

How they met:
Katie and Patrick were both working at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island in the same department in 2005 when a co-worker and friend set them up on a date.

How he proposed:
After asking Katie's parents for their blessing, Patrick popped the question in the couple's apartment in February 2008 with candles and Katie's favorite song playing.

Bride's occupation: Katie works as a senior large group underwriter for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island.

Groom's occupation: Patrick works as a senior rating systems analyst for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island.

THE CEREMONY

The ceremony:
St. Peter's Church in Cranston, R.I.

The gown:
Katie wore an ivory Augusta Jones gown embellished with pearls, crystals and tulle flowers along the train.

The bouquet:
She carried a bouquet of pink roses, white hydrangea, orange cala lillies and hypernicum berries that was tied with ivory ribbon and pearl pins.

THE WEDDING PARTY

Maid of honor:
Michaela Dwyer, the bride's sister

Best man:
Jason Pelletier, a friend of the groom

Bridesmaids:
Kristin O'Callahan and Regina Collis, friends of the bride

Groomsmen:
Kevin McGrath and Richard McGrath Jr., brothers of the groom

THE RECEPTION

The reception:

The cake:
The couple's four-tiered cake was divided between two tiers of carrot cake and two tiers of strawberry Grand Marnier cake, with ivory buttercream frosting, a pearl scroll design and chocolate ribbon on the bottom of each tier.

First song:
"Lucky" by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat

The menu:
For appetizers, there was a Tuscan antipasto buffet with several passed hors d'oeurves. For the meal, guests had a choice of chicken francaise or a surf and turf with filet mignon and baked stuffed shrimp.

For dessert, guests enjoyed wedding cake and bananas flambe with a flaming presentation.

What made the day unique:
Katie's dad arranged for a fireworks display during the reception as a surprise to the bride and groom.

Most touching moment of the day:
Katie says the most touching part of the day was watching the couple's family and friends come together to celebrate and have a great time.

Honeymoon destination:
Maui and Kauai, Hawaii.
