ABOUT THE COUPLE
How they met:
Liz and Adam met at Anna Maria College, their alma mater.
How he proposed:
Liz had to be at work first thing the morning Adam proposed, which was also the morning Adam asked her parents for her hand.
Once Liz got home from work, they rushed to get to the beach because Adam had been wanting to go for many weeks. On their way, there traffic was, of course, horrible and backed up for a few miles.
Once they got there, it was jam packed and they couldn't even make it onto the sand, so they decided to have a picnic at a gazebo near the beach.
After finishing their picnic, they watched the waves crash on the beach, and once they were ready to head back to the car, Adam asked, "Alright, you ready to head out?" Liz kind of confused said, "Sure." Adam then said, "But, before we head back to the car; I need to ask you something..." Liz said, "Oh my god."
"Will you marry me?" Adam asked. Liz started to cry and cried out, "YES!"
Bride's education and occupation: Liz graduated from Anna Maria College in Paxton with a bachelor's degree in humanities. She is scheduled to graduate from the school with a master's degree in special education in August, and is currently a first and second grade teacher at Saint Michael's School in Brattleboro, Vt.
Groom's education and occupation: Adam graduated from Anna Maria College with a bachelor's degree in fire science and earned a paramedic certificate from Greenfield Community College. He works as a firefighter/paramedic in Northampton.
The couple was married at Sacred Heart Parish in North Attleboro.
Liz wore an Allure Bridal, one-shouldered design that featured Swarovski crystals on the shoulder strap and ruching throughout.
She carried a bouquet of white hydrangeas, tulips, freesia and roses.
THE WEDDING PARTY
Maid of honor:
Linda Kucukistipanoglu, friend of the bride.
Christopher Martin and Evan Martin, brothers of the groom.
Shannon Otto, cousin of the bride, and Julie Sbrogna, Lynn Schroeck and Kristin MacDonald, all friends of the bride.
PJ Belham, Peter Ballou and Mike Dandurand, all friends of the bride and groom.
Luke Arnett, cousin of the bride.
Number of guests:
The reception was at Kirkbrae Country Club in Lincoln, R.I.
The theme: Liz and Adam's wedding had a beach and travel theme. The bridesmaids wore Bahama breeze-color tea-length dresses and the groomsmen wore gray suits with the Bahama Breeze accent color. The bridesmaid's bouquets had pale yellow and white roses with a hydrangea base. The groomsmen's boutineres were yellow roses and the groom wore a white rose boutinere, Liz said.
The couple's cake was a three-tiered beach-themed confection with white adironack chairs and white chocolate seashells cascading down the side of the cake into the brown sugar sand. The cake topper was a glass blown heart.
Their first dance was to "Then" by Brad Paisley. "We chose the song because no matter what part of your relationship that your in your love grows over time," Liz said.
Liz says the guests were greeted with hot hors d'oeuvres followed by an entree of sausage stuffed chicken, ribeye of beef or pan roasted salmon. She says the couple also had a late night fast-food station with hamburgers, pizza and french fries for their guests.
What made the day unique:
"The most unique part of the day was the bride, bridesmaids, and mothers of the bride and groom dancing to the 'Cupid Shuffle,' which was firefighter themed," Liz said.
Most touching moment of the day:
"Our first dance, because we sang together the lyrics that meant so much to us. Also the father-daughter dance was very emotional," Liz said.
The couple spent their honeymoon on a cruise to the Southern Caribbean in July.
